The Antiquarium Arborense of Oristano born in 1938, thanks to the “Podestà” of Oristano, that bought the Pischedda’s Collection, the biggest private collection in Sardinia. The visit goes on two levels, the first floor is used for temporary exhibitions, while the second floor is the museum. The archaeological room hosts the Pischedda’s collection and others less important, with finds of Sinis and Tharros. The art gallery houses paintings of Catalan painters of the first XV century. The “Giudicale” room keeps two inscriptions of the “Giudice Arborense” Mariano II (end of XIII century), regarding the construction of towers and walls in Oristano, and other inscriptions and coats of arms of the Spanish and Sabauda domination of the city. The visit takes about 1 hour Opening time: All year round 9.00 -14.00/15.00 – 20.00 Closed on Christmas and New Year's Day Guided tours upon request. |
