 | Barumini is a quaint town nestled in the flat part of the historic region of Marmilla between the Giara and the hill of Las Plassas today territorial Provincial Middle Compidano. The country is known for the presence of the most important nuragic complex, "Su Nuraxi", located at about 60 km from Cagliari. The building stands today as a majestic castle. |

 | The property passed through various stages of construction. The first phase is the construction of the Central Tower, which was originally composed of three superposed chambers, dating from the XVI century BC. In the next phase four towers were added, oriented towards the four cardinal points, and connected by straight walls. In later stages it was built a village of huts for housing that is used as places of worship and assembly. In the last phase, the area was abandoned and became the object of interest of other peoples: Phoenicians, Punic and Roman. The complex, now buried, was fully excavated from 1949 until 1956 under the supervision of Professor Giovanni Lilliu. In 1997 the site was recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage. |
