| | Eleonora d'Arborea and her "Carta de Logu" |

 | Among the most rappresentative characters of Sardinian history, there is the female figure of Eleonora d'Arborea, mithical governor who inspired for ages numerous legends on her life and her conduct, for that she has been compared with the french Jeanne d'Arc. Married with the genoese Brancaleone Doria, she was the governor of Arborea "Giudicato" from 1383 till her death in 1404. She opposed all her forces to Aragonese powers, which aimed to occupied the island, and she was the promoter of different alliances and claims for the indipendence of Sardinia. But her fame is linked to the the law-code she had promulgated in the 1395 an called "Carta de Logu", written in sardinian language, and extended after to all Sardinia. This code rappresent one of the most civilized medieval juridical science. |

 | Castello Giudicale Eleonora d'Arborea The castle Eleonora d'Arborea is located in the village of Sanluri, in the province of Cagliari. The castle is opened to the public and is particularly interesting because it is one of the best-preserved Medieval fortresses in Sardinia. The castle itself is built on a regular, square plan and stands inside a fortress, which is enclosed by 1,550 m. of defence walls 4.5 metres high. 15 towers dominate the whole area, which covers 16 hectares, four of which stand guard at the entrances to the fortress.  | Giuseppe Garibaldi reach for the first time Caprera the 25 of September 1849. There was all the population in “Cala Gavetta” to welcome the hero; everybody wanted to know the author of so many exploits in the world. It’s been just in Caprera that Garibaldi matured his dream of Italy unit, with Rome as capital of the Kingdom. The following events belong to the great history but just a few know that after the historical meeting of “Teano” after having hand a kingdom of 9.000.000 people over to Vittorio Emanuele , Garibaldi came back to Caprera bringing with him three horses, one seeds sack and one stockfish bale. He was followed by a few friends and to be able to pay the cost of the his journey he had to borrow 3.000 lire. |
