 | Iglesias, of Pisan origin, was already well-known to the Romans who exploited the rich mineral deposits of the area. It still retains its original aspect as a vivacious centre of Tuscan flavor, both for its monuments (ancient surrounding walls, the Castle, the Cathedral, Saint Chiara, the monumental N.S. of Valverde and Saint Francesco, all churches constructed in the primitive form by Pisan architects and afterwards rebuilt in the gothic Aragonese style), as well as for the friendly, open and a little unconventional characteristics of its inhabitants. |

 | At Iglesias you will find the very interesting traditions of the Holy Week, which resemble the Spanish traditions. In this town the country traditions have always gone hand in hand with the agropastoral world, as demonstrated by the quantity of genuine and traditional products (bread, cheese, and hams) that can be easily found in many food and wine shops in Iglesias.
