LAGO CEDRINO L. del Cedrino Dorgali NU [Nuoro]
| |
|
| |
LOCATION: East Sardinia
Lake Cedrino is an artificial basin, created by the barrage on the river having the same name, in order to make the irrigation of the fields in the district of Dorgali (at the foot of Mount Tului and Mount Bardia) easier. The lake is fed by important karst sources and, like the river, is suitable for sports like canoeing and kayaking. The area can be visited for a simple nature hike, or a less tiring picnic. If you are really lucky you can also see specimens of Grey Heron. The fauna is quite rich around the lake, and so is the flora, always generous and luxuriant. A trip to Lake Cedrino also offers the chance to do some interesting cultural visits, even with a boat . The creation of the artificial basin blocked the access to the hill of San Pantaleo, where there are two seventeenth-century churches, characterized by a classic and minimalist country architecture.
