Location: East of Sardinia
The forest of Uatzo is located in the districts of Tonara, Belvì and Sorgono. It's characterized by evergreen oaks woods, plantations of cork oak trees, downy oaks, chestnut trees and conifers, that perfectly blend with the Mediterranean maquis and with the numerous streams. Uatzo is also crossed by the railway line of the Green Train (Trenino Verde) Mandas – Arbatax, but this forest deserves to be visited in tranquillity. It's the ideal place for trekking excursions, outdoor sports, but also for long and relaxing trips to the country. The forest is also the favourite destination for many birdwatchers, because of how easy it is to see beautiful specimens of Bonelli's eagle, golden eagle and peregrine falcon fly in its skies.
