 | On the 26th of August the Jazz Festival will start in Nuoro. The Artistic Director is, as usual, the great Paolo Fresu. The festival will start with a prologue in the coastal town of Orosei: on tuesday, the 26th of August (at 9 pm) at Casa Cabras (in the city centre) the protagonist will be Riccardo Parucci's Extra Tempo Ensemble, a band ranging from classical to jazz music, with Riccardo Panucci on flute, and, on strings, Gloria Merani (violin), Alessandro Franconi (viola) and Filippo Burchietti (cello).
The seminar’s twentieth edition is organized by the Music Board of Nuoro thanks to the contribution of the Local Authority for Artistic and Cultural Activities of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna and to the Fondazione Banco di Sardegna, in collaboration with the municipalities of Nuoro, Ghilarza, Mamoiada, Orani, Orosei, Ottana, Posada, the Regional Ethnographic Institute, the group Casa Cabras di Orosei, GEASAR Olbia Airport, and the Orani Pro Loco.
In addition to the Nuoro Jazz Seminar’s educational activities, most of the concerts will be held in Nuoro but there will be several exhibitions in other municipalities of the Province as well. The program (21 concerts in 13 days) wants to celebrate the Seminar’s twentieth “birthday” and will present several groups directed by their teachers as it used to happen during the first editions. The Seminar was originally conceived as an occasion for study but it has increasingly become one of the most interesting Sardinian music events.
