 | Oliena is a village of 8000 inhabitants and is characterized by the presence of many vineyards. It is located on the region of Nepente, which gives the name to the wine (a variety of Cannonau). Many religious buildings situated in Oliena enrich the cultural fortune of the village: the little Church of Santa Croce (which is considered the oldest one in Oliena), the church of Santa Maria (built by the Pisan at the end of the 1200), the church of Sant’ Ignazio di Loyola and the near Jesuits’ college remind the settling of the religious order which promoted viticulture and the silkworm farming. The environs offer spectacular naturalistic and archaeological excursions, amazing landscapes in a karst territory which is very important: Supramonte. |

 | The karst sources of Su Gologone are considered the most spectacular and important in Sardinia. It is absolutely necessary to visit the cave of Corbeddu which is famous for the frequent archaeological findings. The Lanaittu valley has several caves and hollows made by the water, which have created hypogeums only known in part. What happens at the cave of Sa Oche (The Voice), connected to the cave of Su Bentu (The Wind), is particularly interesting: when it rains heavily, the cave quickly fills with water, which then gushes out from the cave with great force. In this area you can also find “ribes sardum”, a unique variety of plant life only found here, and also many types of predatory birds like the goshawk. |

 | One of the most important archaeological sites is the nuragic complex of Sa Sedda e Sos Carros, which consists of about 200 huts, but also the village of Tiscali, on the boundary with Dorgali, situated in a narrow hidden valley which made it virtually invisible to potential enemies.
