 | Orune is a characteristic village in the middle of the Province of Nuoro, with about 3000 inhabitants. It's situated 25km from the chief town, about 800m above sea level, overlooking the picturesque valley of Marreri. Orune's region is full of archaeological sites of great interest that point to a significant human presence already in the Neolithic era; this is proved by the Dolmen of Isthiti, not far from the Tombs of Giants having the same name, the Menhir and Sas Predas'Ittas that can be found in its countryside. Not to be missed is a visit to the beautiful sacred fountain of Su Tempiesu, symbol of the nuraghic cult of water.
