The exceptional scenery and nature of the Tavolara and Punta Coda Cavallo Protected Marine Areas will be the background of the sailing ship competition enlivening this event.
Lateen sail represents, together with the lugsail practised in the Adriatic Sea, the most authentic way to go by sea. During the millennial history of lateen sail, countless boats and ships ran up this peculiar boat’s crew: pot-bellied caravels, fine xebecs , galleys, tartans, feluccas, leudos and dozen of other ships of every shape and dimension.
The hulls with the triangular white sail still plough lightly through the Mediterranean Sea, the Nile, The Indian Ocean and the Coasts of Africa.
