Born in 1878, this museum keeps a very important archaelogical section, an art gallery and an ethnographical selection. It is divided in different sections: Conference room: four beautiful mosaics coming from Sorso and Alghero. Art gallery: more than 360 paintings, from XIV century to the contemporary age. Educational room, dedicated to the prehistoric age. Prehistoric room: here the most ancient materials, from the stoned woods to the handmade (lower Palaeolithic to late Neolithic), are kept. Monted’Accoddi, dedicated to the homonymous Prehistorical temple. Hipogean Graves’ Room: here finds coming from “Domus de Janas” , mainly of the Copper Age and the Bronze Age. Megalithic Graves’ room: this area is dedicated to Giant’s Graves and Dolmens, mosaic and epigraphic documents, coming mainly from Turris Libisonis. Medal’s room: finds from the Phoenician-Punical to Modern Age. Middle Age room: vases, weapons, harness, jewels coming from different Sardinian areas.
The visit takes about 2 hours. Opening time: Tuesday to Sunday, 9.00 – 20.00 (the ticket office closes at 19.30)
Entrance fee: Full ticket: € 2.00 Special ticket (young 18-25 years old) : € 1.00 Free entrance: young under 18, senior above 65, groups of students and teachers of all the Italian schools.
