The Rivers’ Road is a naturalistic path close to Gennargentu’s massif, it’s north of big lake “Alto Flumendosa”, in the heart of Ogliastra. The walk turns along the valley of Bau Mela river, characterized by huge rocks polished from the stream, the rocks create numerous pools and little falls.

1° day: Olbia-Villa Grande Strisaili - Conca is Capones
How to arrive: From the Olbia airport, you have to turn into the road number 597, at the first crossroads turn into the State Road 131dir. to San Teodoro. Immediately after San Teodoro take again the State Road 131 dir. At the Nuoro’s crossroads turn left on the State Road 389 to Lanusei. Travelling time: About an hour and a half.
1° stage: Conca is Capones.
What to see:
Villa Grande is the first step of the itinerary. The area is that one close to Gennargentu’s massif to the north of big lake “Alto Flumendosa”, in the heart of Ogliastra. After you leave your car in the “Conca is Capones” you preceed along a path that runs side by side the asphalt road 389. You reach a little nuraghe after a ilex and oak’s wood.

2° Stage: Bau Mela River
What to see: After the nuraghe you have to go down along the slope that leads at the Bau Mela river. The panorama consisting of maquis with juniper trees and asphodel. The river flows in a narrow valley characterized by huge rocks polished from the stream, the rocks create numerous pools and little falls.
3° Stage: Bau Mela’s dam
What to see:
After two hours of walk you arrive at the most spectacular point of Bau Mela river, where it flows between two high rocky faces producing a set of spectacular falls and pools. In proximity of the last fall where the river connects up with the Porcu Abba river, there is the Bau Mela’s dam, built with granitic rock.
2° day
4° stage: Conca is capones - Villa Grande Strisaili
What to see: Going downstream you advance along Porcu Abba river, between high faces and a grandiose view on the river and on the natural habitat. After the dam you reach the main road to arrive again Conca is Capones and Villa Grande Strisaili.
3° day: Back to Olbia
How to arrive: From Villagrande Strisaili you have to continue on the State Road 389. At the Nuoro’s crossroads turn into the State Road 131 to Olbia. Travelling time: About two and a half.
