 | ISLAND MYSTERIES There is a mystery in the heart of the Gallura, Luras. A fascinating country whose origins are lost in the mists of time. A mystery that invests in full even its founders who have a genetic code different from the other inhabitants of the region. The historic centre of Luras is characteristic and well preserved. MUSEUM GALLURAS THE MYSTERY OF FEMINA AGABBADORA The museum of the territory. This is the typical home Gallurese with over 5,000 exhibits dating from the end of 1400 the first half of 1900. Beyond these granite walls, materials and objects that decorate the museum have a great particularity. They are animated. Form and substance, act and power of everything that has happened, which was among the shepherds, farmers, artisans, families of this strip of land. The piece oldest and most prized of this ethnological paradise is without doubt the hammer of "Femina Agabbadòra", the only existing copy, the oldest instrument for the practice of euthanasia. THE MYSTERY OF DOLMEN The dolmen of Luras constitute a significant example of the diffusion of Gallura Megalitismo funeral of European type, which develops current dall'IV the second millennium BC. Thanks to the syntax decorative, some ceramic fragments, found in four sites dolmenici luresi, dolmen would be attributable to a regional Culture, the Cultural Institute of Ozieri, which develops in recent Neolithic (3500-2700 BC) This is collective burials, as place dedicated to worship, assigned to pastoral communities, in the area. In the four sites, in the town of Luras, can be seen the evolution of architectural dolmens that bring us new tombs gallery and then to the tombs of the giants. The dolmen of Alzoledda and Billella, with the structure of trilite, represent the simplest form of dolmens. In dolmen of Ciuledda, we see the shape of dolmens chamber, while if we want to see the majesty of un'allèe couverte, we must move towards Ladas, whose coverage consists of two slabs dishes, one of whom is in size the second throughout the Mediterranean basin. THE MYSTERY OF OLIVASTRI MILLENARI The olive trees a thousand years old, olea silvestris, Carana, are inserted into an enchanting natural setting, on the shores of Lake Smooth. According to some studies conducted by the Department of Systems Arborei University of Sassari, in consultation with the University of Paris, this natural patriarch should have between 3,000 and 4,000 years old, making it one of the oldest trees on Earth . This "patriarch of nature", was declared in 1991 natural monument. The myths and legends associated with quest'albero is wasted. It is said that in the second half of 1800, an inhabitant of the area was found in the concavity of the trunk, a treasure. Size: Perimeter ceppaia: 20 meters - crown diameter: 22 meters trunk circumference: 11 meters - Height: over 15 metres |

How we are - Central Gallura A little palace with three floors, a modest granite house, with nothing different from all the other buildings of Gallura, where every stones have an own history, hosts in Luras the Ethnographic Museum “GALLURAS”, “pieces of Gallura’s history and culture”. It is the first and only ethnographic museum in Gallura laid down on the exact reconstruction of the typical gallura’s ambient between the end of ‘600 and the first middle of this century: wine-growing/wine-making; agriculture/sheep-farming, weaving, cork and domestic ambient with living room, kitchenand bedroom. The rooms have been rebuilt according to the structures of the old Gallura’s houses, with care and attention to the details that make them alive. An accuracy that sometime has also surprised and touched the older visitors, that have lived this rooms and knew this finds, that mean works, actions, words and emotions.
