Cala Gonone
  Cala Gonone

Cala Gonone sea SardiniaCala Gonone is about 7 km far from Dorgali, surrounded by mountains and big calcareous cliffs that. This area is full of wonderful creeks and isolated beaches, easily to reach only by boat. On the north there is the beach of Osalla, reachable by land and the suitable place for families thanks to the pinewood at its back. After Osalla there is the beach of Cartoe: its sand is surprisingly white and its waters blue and crystal-clear. On the south of Cala Gonone there is the small but beautiful Cala Fuili.

Cala Luna SardiniaAfter Fuili beach there is the beach of Cala Luna, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia. Going southwards you will reach Cala Sisine beach. At the back of this small beach two high rocky walls stand.
Towards Santa Maria Navarrese you will find Cala Biriola, characterized by wonderful bright colours, Cala Mariolu and Cala Goloritzè, one of trekkers and free-climbers favourite destinations. A high calcareous arch stands on the beach, whose waters are refreshed by underground sources.

Bue Marino cave SardiniaFive kilometres far from Cala Gonone there is the cave of Bue Marino, where some specimens of monk seal used to live. It’s one of the widest in Sardinia and is full of charming underground lakes. Going to the north you can reach the caves of Ispinigoli, among the widest in Italy. Here you can see the highest stalagmite in Europe (more than 38 metres high).

Cala Gonone harbour SardiniaGoing towards Nuoro there are two interesting archaeological sites: the Giant’s Grave of S’Ena ‘e Thomes, one of the most important evidences of the Sardinia prehistory, and, about ten kilometres far from Dorgali, the nuragic village of Serra Orrios. Four kilometres far from Dorgali there is the church of Babbu Mannu (1662), where every year, on Whitsunday, a country feast takes place.
