| Must see |
|
 | A most important and interesting coastal city is Tortoli, now Ogliastra’s main center.
With the development of the tertiary sector, it is also the main seaside resort.
The hamlet of Arbatax, near Tortoli, is at the base of imposing Capo Bellavista, totally covered by thick Mediterranean scrub and peeked by a splendid lighthouse and picturesque Tower of Arbatax, a Spanish construction dating back to XVII century.
Near the port, one can admire wonderful red rocks, cliffs by the sea; or on the Bellavista NE promontory, a beautiful view of the splendid Cala Moresca near its tourist village.

|
 | The Barisardo center is south of Tortoli. The real hamlet is not properly by the sea due to previous pirate incursions. Anyway, you can reach the suggestive coast within few minutes. Admire beautiful Marina di Barì, an area full of hostels and tourist buildings, featuring the famous beach of Barì, with colored pebbles dominated by a VII-century tower.
Near Ogliastra border with Cagliari, still South, see lovely Marina di Terenia including fantastic Foxi Manna beaches near tourist villages surrounded by Aleri, Longu and Nastasi nuraghes, and S. Giovanni di Sarrala beach under the great tower.
|
|
 | Northern Ogliastra is also full of landscapes, beaches and bays that match the sites previously cited in beauty, not to mention the Santa Maria Navarrese beach, opposite a village of the same name stretching north toward Lotzorai or the Rose beaches.
No doubt, Ogliastra can boast a wonderful coast, but its inland is also one of the most beautiful and suggestive, one of most intact in Italy and belonging to the Gennargentu National Park.

|
 | Baunei has a lovely coast and is surrounded by huge Supramonte under a thriving mantle of Mediterranean scrub– ilex, juniper, pine, cork, almond, rockrose bush.
North of Santa Maria Navarrese, the Supramonte mountains overlook the sea: among them are wonderful Cape of Monte Santu with high limestone rock cliffs under thick ilex and bushes, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view over Cala Gonone and most of Orosei Gulf.
Also beautiful Cala Goloritzè is surmounted by majestic rocks, the so-called Falesie dei Falchi, where the highest is Corrodi o Aguglia at 148 m. above sea.

|
 | To Dorgali see the boundaries of splendid Gorroppu and Rio Flumineddu heights, characterized by wild, massive rocks plunging into nothingness.
Then, you can reach Villagrande Strisaili mountain, which lies between Barbagia and Ogliastra.
The Gennargentu SE area, in Villagrande, boasts forest and immense, wild Valleys, like Tadderì dominated by Bruncu Allueinfogu (1,492m) and Tuddai (1,319m) mountains.
Particularly interesting is also the area surrounding the Alto Flumendosa, Sardinia’s most picturesque lake.
Originating from the pure springs of the Flumendosa, the region’s second longest lake (122m), it is particularly interesting from an environmental viewpoint. Nearby, one can visit a vital archaeological site, S’Arcu ‘e Is Forrus nuragic temple.

|
 | Still in the South is Ogliastra’s little historic capital, Lanusei, rich in eye-catching views and glimpses.
On nearby Monte Armidia is an amazing and interesting planetarium: a visit is possible upon booking.
South of Ulassai, Ierzu center is very important and famous everywhere for its flourishing vineyard cultivation, whence the typical and excellent Cannonau wine.
